Chapman number one in WASL for round 2- December 31, 2022
The 33-year old player had a double-double of 34 points and 12 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Al Bashaer (#8, 0-2) with 32-point margin 86-54. It allowed Al Hilal to take over top position in the WASLn. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Al Hilal won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Chapman had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Al Hilal's top player in his first season with the team. Former The University of Texas star has very solid stats this year. Chapman is in league's top in points (3rd best: 29.5ppg) and averages impressive 65.5% FGP and 45.5% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was young American Waverly Austin (211-F-1991) of Al Sadd. Austin had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds. It was enough for Al Sadd to edge Al Nassr (1-1) 78-77. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Austin is a newcomer at Al Sadd, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.5ppg (#7). He also registered 17.5 boards per game. Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Edgar Sosa (190-F-1988) of league's second-best Al Naft. Sosa got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for seven assists. He was a key player of Al Naft, leading his team to a 100-87 easy win against Al Riyadi (1-1). Al Naft needs these victories very badly if they think about taking over top position in the standings. Their record at this point is 1 victories and 1 lost games. Sosa has a great season in WASL. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 35.5ppg (best scorer) and assists with 8.5apg (2nd best). Other top performing players last week: 4.
